Tune Ups for Home Obedience
Description: Join us for a refresh and review of all the basic home obedience skills and more. Added to the basic review will be tricks and games and lots of ways to get your dog to obey and have fun too. We'll do "heeling to the oldies" and the "twenty treat game" and talk about whatever problems you are having with your pup. There will be plenty of individual attention, because we plan to have at least 4 or 5 members of the club there to help you. These club members have done competition obedience and agility with their dogs so there will be years of experience there. This is a two week class with 1 1/2 hour lessons.
Prerequisites: Dogs must have completed a basic obedience class.

Playtime Puppy
Description: Puppy socialization with some introduction to basic training for puppies. This is a six week class.
Prerequisites: For puppies up to 6 months.

Home Obedience I
Description: A class for handler and pups to learn to live happily with your dog and to explore the many areas of dog ownership today. Skills like sit, down, come, walking on a loose leash, wait, are interspersed with tricks, games and puppy agility. The more you interact with your dog, the more she/he will want to obey you. We do plenty of on-leash socialization with other people and dogs and we use positive rewards like praise, food and toys. Grooming, teeth brushing, health tips, healthy food and treat ideas are also part of the curriculum. Individual attention with your questions respected and answered and homework sent weekly via e-mail to reinforce what's been done in class. We love dogs and we'd love to have you join us.
This is a six week class.
Prerequisites: For dogs 9 weeks and up

Home Obedience II
Description: In this class students will continue to work on the basic commands (sit, down, stay, come, walking nicely on leash, etc.) that were introduced in Home Obedience I. We will add distance, duration and distractions as we "proof" those behaviors and introduce exercises to transition to competitive obedience commands (including heeling). This class will also introduce "clicker training", shaping and motivational training techniques to students. If you are thinking of participating in any kind of dog sports, this class would be a good beginning. This is a six week class.
Prerequisites: Home Obedience I or equivalent.

Nose Games
Description: Come learn about the exciting new sport of nosework. Nosework training is based on detection work and works the dogs' strongest sense (scent). We will focus on beginning to train for this sport and give you ideas on how to continue training. Nosework is an excellent confidence booster! This is a four week class with 1 hour lessons.
Prerequisites: Dogs should have some rudimentary obedience training like sit, down, come but work will be individual for each dog and can be done on leash.

Continuing Nose Games
Description: This is a continuation of the Nose Games Class. A more complete description will be soon available. This is a four week class with 1 hour lessons.
Prerequisites: Dogs must have taken the Nose Games Beginning class.

Obedience Skills
Description: The class will include preparation for the CGC exam and some competition obedience and rally work. This class is for handlers who want to have a more reliable dog at home and for handlers who are interested in competition obedience and rally. This is a six week class. One week after the last class a CGC test will be offered.
Prerequisites: This class is for dogs who have completed Home Obedience I and Home Obedience II classes. Dogs should have an understanding of walking on a loose leash, stay commands, and recalls.
Cost: $75.00 non-members, $53.75 members. Additional, separate $10.00 fee for the CGC Test.
Introduction to Competitve Obedience Skills
Description: Learn about the skills needed in competitive Rally/Obedience. Exercises include heeling, sit, down, stay, recall, stand for exam, fronts and finishes. This is a six week class.
Prerequisites: Home Obedience I. Dogs should be fine working around other dogs.
Cost: $85.00 non-members, $63.75 members
Competitve Obedience Skills
Description: Intended for the competitor who intends to train beyond Novice to Open and Utility. This class introduces advanced skills early with the intent of finding the training approach that will be best for dog and trainer. These skills will include drops, signal sits, downs, stands, retrieves, jumps, directed retrieves--glove marking, and scent articles. This is a six week class.
Prerequisites: Dog and handlers should have basics in heeling and understanding of Novice exercises. Dog does not need to have a CD degree.
Cost: $85.00 non-members, $63.75 members
Novice Competition Obedience
Description: Intended for the dog and handler team who intend to compete in obedience classes at trials. Work will include basic commands and exercises for Novice classes. Exercises include on and off lead heeling, sit, down, stay, recall, stand for exam. This is a six week class.
Prerequisites: Home Obedience II. Dogs should be fine working around other dogs.
Cost: $85.00 non-members, $63.75 members
Beginning Rally/Novice Obedience
Description: This is a combined Rally/Obedience class for a beginning person to Rally and/or Obedience. This is a six week class.
Prerequisites: Dogs should have had at least basic home obedience training.

Open Competition Obedience
Description: Intended for the dog and handler team who desire to compete in the Open Level in obedience at trials. The class covers heel free, drop on recall, retrieve on flat, retrieve over the high jump, broad jump and out of sight sits and downs. The basics of heeling will not be taught but it will be practiced along with tips to help perfect the heeling. This is a six week class.
Prerequisites: Novice Competition Obedience. Dogs should have a good handle on heeling.

Open/Utility Obedience
Description: Intended for the competitor who has started their training in Open and Utility. This class continues training advanced skills with the intent of finding the training approach that will be best for dog and trainer. These skills will include drops, signal sits, downs, stands, retrieves, jumps, directed retrieves--glove marking, and scent articles. This is a six week class.

CGC Mini Class
Description: This class will be a preparation/brush-up on basic skills needed to earn a Canine Good Citizen award. Participants will have the opportunity to practice the ten activities covered in the Canine Good Citizen test, which is offered at the conclusion of this class. Dogs passing the CGC test are eligible for an AKC certificate. This is a good first step for those wishing to do therapy work with their dog. This is a four week class.
Prerequisites: Home Obedience I and Home Obedience II

UKC Novice and All Levels
Description: This class will primarily cover UKC Novice exercises. People who have never shown are welcome, as well as experienced dogs and handlers. There will be a second ring set up for those who are working in Open and Utility UKC training. Persons working at these levels may work on their own or may organize to do run-throughs with distractions. UKC rules for competition will be covered and questions answered. This class wil be excellent training for our annual UKC obedience trials. This is a six week class.
Prerequisites: For dogs 6 months and up

Rally Obedience
Description: This class will follow AKC Rally guidelines and will cover all exercises from Novice Class through Excellent Class. The Non Regular exercises will be introduced. Emphasis will be put on understanding how to perform the exercises properly, understanding the rules and procedures in AKC Rally and after the 2nd week, following simple patterns consisting of the exercises taught in the previous lesson.
Every effort will be made to assist handlers in understanding all the exercises in all levels of Rally. Exercises are grouped for lessons in similar type for example basic Obedience exercises, Circling exercises, Front and Finish exercises, etc. This is a six week class.
Prerequisites: Dogs should know or at least have a good handle on what heeling is.
Cost: $85.00 non-members, $63.75 members
UKC Rally Obedience
Description:This class will work on basic courses and various exercise components of UKC Rally. It is preparatory to the upcoming UKC Rally & Obedience trials held by 4RK9's. This is a four week class. Each session is 1 1/2 hours long.
Prerequisites: Dogs should have had at least basic home obedience training. Having prior rally training would be helpful but not required.

Open Obedience
Description: This is a mini class for dogs working in Open. Lessons will deal with proofing or problem solving the open exercises. Participants will work on all of the open exercises. Class will run 1 1/2 hours. Please be sure to list your dog's experience with open training on your class registration form. Class will be limited to 6 dogs and 6 handlers. This is a six week class.
Prerequisites: For dogs 6 months and up
Cost: $85.00 non-members, $63.75 members
