Club History

4RK9's was established in 1992 with ten charter members. By 1994 there were 7 charter members, 11 new members and 4 provisional members. Fun matches, demonstrations, trials and seminars were given. June 18, 1994, 4RK9's held an NCDA Agility Trial (one of an unofficial 12 NCDA trials held by 4RK9's) at the Linn County Fairgrounds in Central City. There were 2 trials with 48 entries for each trial.

Meetings were held bi-monthly on the second Thursday of the month in 1995. More demonstrations, trials, seminars and fun matches were held. September 20, 1995, UKC approved 4RK9's as a fully licensed Agility and Provisional Obedience Club.

On March 21, 1996, 4RK9's became an approved UKC fully licensed Obedience club. The first UKC Trial was given on August 31st and September 1st of 1996 with 2 trials each of agility and obedience.

Meetings were moved to bi-monthly on the second Monday of the month in 1997. Fun matches, seminars and another UKC trial were held. The trial was on August 30th and 31st, two trials of agility with 65 entries for each trial. Obedience held one trial with 39 total entries. These were held at the Armory Building in Cedar Rapids.

More fun matches, trials and seminars were presented in 1998 and 1999. The trials were again held at the Armory Building.

Currently, 4RK9's has 43 active members, 4 provisional members and 2 inactive members. Fun matches are presented monthly alternating UKC/AKC agility and UKC/AKC obedience. Our annual trials are now held at the Amana RV Park with 3 trials each agility and obedience.
